The Capital Dance Orchestra has its roots in classical music and jazz. These top musicians come from Berlin’s classical orchestras, such as Deutsche Symphonie Orchester and Berliner Symphoniker, and from the modern musical scene, as exemplified by Theater des Westens and Musicaltheater am Potsdamer Platz. The explosive blend is completed by the elite musicians coming from Berlin’s jazz scene - from the famous RIAS Big Band, for example.
Thus the sound of the orchestra is entirely unique – Berlin’s best Big Band is much, much more than the sum of its parts, and has created an irresistible and utterly charming throwback to the era and the feeling of the 20’s through the 40’s. The Capital Dance Orchestra also invites a variety of singers both male and female to perform with them, as the perfect complement to their swing and jazz arrangements.
